BMS

BMS or Battery Management System is needed for Lithium Ion Batteries because cells in series do not balance well. This is even more important when heavy loads are required as cells will tend to get further out of balance. With BMS we can discharge the batteries further when cells are balanced because it is less likely for a cell to go under its critical 2.5 volts. Additionally BMS systems will act as a Low Voltage Disconnect protecting the cells from over discharge.
