SHUNT

Shunt.png

A shunt is a device that accurately measures current. A shunt is a insulated bar a metal with a very low, well known, resistance. When a current is drawn crossed any resistance a voltage drop occurs. The voltage drop is directly proportional to the current. The display for the shunt contains a computer that accurately measures the voltage drop across the shunt. The voltage drop multiplied by the resistance is equal to the current.
